KYC & KYB Onboarding

Onboard customers and businesses fast, without lowering the bar

Onboarding is where risk enters the firm and where the customer forms their first impression — so it has to be both rigorous and quick. This programme composes identity verification, business and beneficial-ownership checks, screening and risk rating into one onboarding flow, so a customer or counterparty is verified, screened and risk-rated on entry, with every check recorded against a single record.

The programme

What this programme is, and why it matters

A solution is a programme, not a single tool — the outcome a set of platform capabilities add up to when they run on one record.

Know who you are dealing with, on day one

Whether onboarding an individual (KYC) or a business (KYB), the programme captures and verifies identity, ownership and control information up front, so the relationship starts from a complete, evidenced picture rather than gaps filled in later.

Rigour without friction

Low-risk applicants clear through a streamlined path while higher-risk ones route into deeper checks — so genuine customers are not held up by controls designed for edge cases, and the effort lands where the risk is.

Beneficial ownership, unpacked

For businesses, the programme captures ownership and control structures and unwraps beneficial owners so you understand who ultimately stands behind a counterparty — the question supervisors expect a firm to be able to answer.

The record starts here

Every document, verification result, screening hit and rating captured at onboarding becomes the foundation of the customer's record — the same record diligence, monitoring and cases build on later.

The challenge

What makes this hard today

The operational realities this programme is designed to resolve.

Manual, document-heavy checks

Identity and business verification collected over email and re-keyed into systems is slow, error-prone and impossible to audit cleanly.

Opaque ownership structures

Layered corporate structures make it hard to establish who ultimately owns and controls a business counterparty, and to keep that understanding current.

Drop-off from friction

Onboarding that applies the same heavy checks to everyone frustrates low-risk customers and loses good business at the front door.

Disconnected from the rest of the programme

When onboarding lives apart from screening and diligence, data is captured once and then re-collected downstream, and the risk picture fragments immediately.

Inconsistent evidence

Without a defined flow, what gets captured and verified varies by who did the onboarding — leaving uneven, hard-to-defend files.

The value

What your team gains

Faster, cleaner onboarding

A defined, data-driven flow removes re-keying and email chases, so good customers clear quickly and files are complete.

Ownership understood up front

Beneficial-ownership discovery answers the "who is behind this?" question on entry rather than under examination.

Less front-door drop-off

Risk-based routing keeps friction proportionate, so controls designed for edge cases don't cost you low-risk business.

A record you can build on

Everything captured at onboarding feeds diligence, monitoring and cases, so the risk picture is unified from the start.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is the difference between KYC and KYB here?

KYC verifies individuals; KYB verifies businesses, including their registration, standing and ultimate beneficial owners. Both run in the same onboarding flow, configured per customer type.

Does OnyxOne provide the identity data?

No. OnyxOne integrates with the identity-verification and corporate-registry data providers configured for your deployment. It orchestrates and records the checks; the data comes from the sources you contract.

Can it keep low-risk onboarding fast?

Yes. Risk-based routing clears low-risk applicants through a streamlined path and reserves deeper checks for higher-risk ones, so friction is proportionate to risk.

How does onboarding connect to the rest of our programme?

Everything captured at onboarding lands on the customer record that due diligence, ongoing monitoring and cases build on — so nothing is re-collected and the risk picture is unified from day one.

Are SOC 2 or ISO 27001 held?

Not yet. Both are on our roadmap; we will publish attestations in the Trust Center once they are held rather than claim them beforehand.
